Extracurricular Activities

ATHLETICS, CLUBS & STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Summit Middle School has a very active and engaged student community, and our school offers a variety of activities for students to enjoy.  During lunch and after school students can choose to participate in student clubs or join an athletic team!  Check out this page to learn more about the student clubs and athletics that we offer at Summit!

SUMMIT ATHLETICS

Intramural or Interscholastic sports are a great way to stay active and make new friends at Summit.  Athletic team practice takes place afterschool, and the days of the week will vary based on the sport.  To participate in any sport, parents must register their student online before the first day of practice.  To participate in an Interscholastic sport a current physical must be turned into the office before the first day of practice.

STUDENT CLUBS

Summit is happy to offer a variety of excellent lunch and after school clubs for our students.  Clubs will vary year to year depending on student interests.  We try to make sure there is something for everyone in our community.

 

STUDENT COUNCIL

Student Council is a great club for students who enjoy giving back to their community by organizing and planning school activities - such as Spirit Week or the Annual Halloween Costume Contest!

 

BRAIN BOWL

Brain Bowl is a general knowledge trivia & quiz club! If you like to compete in brain based challenges this might be the club for you. This club also participates in an annual competition run by the Colorado Optimist Club.

 

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

If you love to read, like competition and you are really good at remembering random details this is the club for you! This is a trivia style competition club, but the content is limited to a specific list of grade level books.

 

NETZERO

NetZero is an environmental club that gives students a chance to make a difference and change the world we live in! Students will have the opportunity to take on leadership roles by heading up projects - such as the annual Recycling Relay!

 

ALLIES CLUB

Allies club builds student awareness of social justice and diversity issues. We also create a safe space for students who are LGBTQ and questioning. This club creates opportunities for the wider school community to be allies to all through educational events.

 

SUMMIT HONOR SOCIETY

Summit Honor Society is an 8th grade student club. As a member of the Summit Honor Society, you will be committed to scholarship, service, character, leadership and citizenship skills and will practice important social, leadership, communication and organization skills.

 

SONGWRITING 

Songwriting Club explores songwriting through writing activities, brainstorming, collaborating, meditation, nature walks, and other fun activities (including karaoke)!

COLORING CLUB

Coloring Club offers students an opportunity to destress and color while listening to music during lunch. A fabulous selection of fun designs are available! Come hang out and relax with friends.

 

HUSKY HOWL

Join the online newspaper staff and contribute writing, photography, design, editing and technology skills to produce a monthly school newsletter.

 

CHESS CLUB

Playing chess is a great way to develop analytical reasoning and decision making skills. Chess club is open to players of all abilities - come play serious games, to play for fun, or even to learn how to play! Drop-ins are always welcome.

 

ART CLUB

Art Club is an opportunity for students who love art to come express themselves, explore new or familiar media, share their favorite artworks and learn about new artists.

 

HOMEWORK CLUB

Homework Club meets after school and is a place where students are welcome to work on school work or get extra help with their homework. This is also a great place for students to prepare for upcoming tests or projects. Join homework club and stay on top of your school work!

 

YEARBOOK CLUB

Yearbook club is dedicated to building the annual Summit yearbook. Any student is welcome to join and be a part of the fun, collaborative process behind creating an amazing display of middle school memories.

 

CREATIVE WRITING CLUB

Do you love free writing? Are you currently working on your own writing project or interested in beginning a writing project? Join the Creative Writing Club!

 

ROBOTICS CLUB

Robotics Club guides students through the exciting world of robots. Come explore the competition side of robotics or just to learn more about how to build and control robots!

 

MARVEL CLUB

Marvel club comes together at lunch to watch a Marvel movie and relax with friends. Make sure you have a permission slip signed by your parents. Some movies are PG-13.

 

G.A.L. CLUB

G.A.L. club is a lunch club for girls to support each other in becoming strong, independent leaders in our community. Stop by and hang out with the Gal-Pals!

 

MATH COUNTS

Mathcounts is a fun Math club where we build problem solving skills and positive attitudes about math. We will participate in the AMC 8, the UNC, and the Mathcounts school competitions.

 

HARRY POTTER CLUB

Harry Potter Club is a great place to relax while watching the Harry Potter movies and discussing the series with friends at lunch. Make sure you have a permission slip signed by your parents. Some movies are PG-13.

 

COMIC BOOK CLUB

Comic Book Club is a space to read, discuss, and create one of the most misunderstood and underappreciated art forms, the comic! We will share our own art and story development and

receive feedback from the experts, each other! 

 

STARWARS CLUB

Join us to watch the Starwars series at lunch! Make sure that you have a permission slip signed by your parents. Some movies are PG-13. May the force be with you…

 

BUDDIES CLUB

Buddies Club is a chance to meet old and new friends. We eat, play board games and laugh. Anyone is welcome to join us! 

 

MAGIC THE GATHERING

If you enjoy playing the card game Magic the Gathering join our club. Don't worry if you don't have your own cards - we have extras!
