SUMMIT'S COVID-19 RESPONSE & ON-GOING EFFORTS
COVID-19 presented unexpected and difficult challenges for schools around the world. At Summit, we used our charter school status to create innovative solutions and opportunities for all students.
We were one of the first schools in BVSD to open for the 2020-2021 school year, staying dedicated to our mission of academic excellence. While we opened with 100% distance learning, we initiated Outdoor Meet-ups for our students to meet their social and emotional needs during these difficult times.
Summit offered in-person classes before any other BVSD school, opening our doors to all grade levels, one day per week, back in September. We kept engagement high by incorporating virtual author and speaker events for our students, including those who elected to stay 100% at home.
Our success in innovation has always been centered on our commitment to safety, dedication to a caring community, and academic achievement. We continue to meet with our pandemic response teams and to work towards new, creative solutions and student opportunities.
